A Makeover for JourneyHR
Human Resources specialists Aliya Vigor-Robertston and Sue Shaw combined their expertise in 2010 to form JourneyHR, a consultancy answering the HR needs of fast paced entrepreneurial businesses, particularly those of media and digital start-ups. They are long standing helpfulwebhosting customers and recently asked us to give their website a whole new look.
JourneyHR had undergone a rebranding exercise, establishing a dynamic look and conversational tone of voice for the company that wasn’t reflected in its online presence. Our job was to carry the new style over and to consolidate the information available on the existing website, in the new company brochure and a Powerpoint presentation to create a consistent message, one that was professional and reflected Aliya and Sue’s straight-talking, down to earth style.
The first step was to help them find a base theme to work from that worked well with the rebrand and Sketch from Okay Themes answered that brief perfectly. Not only was the design exactly what we were looking for and responsive, so it also worked well on tablets and mobiles, but we knew from having worked with his themes previously that the developer provided detailed documentation and active support.
Once we’d gathered together all of the information for the rebuild, we designed a quick Coming Soon page with contact details to ensure that Aliya and Sue weren’t out of touch with potential customers for the short time we’d be at work on the site. Over the course of the next two days we made the switchover to the new theme, created new graphics and copy, tightened up the existing content we were carrying over and slotted it all into place, ensuring a good flow through the site. When we handed it over, we advised on where we felt there might be a couple of gaps in the information provided and advised Aliya and Sue on how they could develop their site in the future.
Before and After
Before the redesign, JourneyHR’s website lacked impact and didn’t communicate the vivaciousness and core values of the partnership. We wanted to bring the website right up to date so that it talked to JourneyHR’s target audience and ensured that the information flow was structured in a way that guided the user through their process, providing relevant evidence of expertise and a call to action along every step of the way.
Please go and have a look around JourneyHR’s website. We’re really pleased with it and are hugely happy that Aliya and Sue love their new online home too.
Working with the team at helpfulwebhosting is always a total pleasure. They are absolute experts in their field, quick to deliver and spot issues proactively. They have also just led a complete overhaul of our webpage and the transformation is immeasurable. We are absolutely delighted with the results both creatively and from a copy perspective.
